About Upper Missouri Watershed Alliance (UMOWA)
The Upper Missouri Watershed Alliance mission is “to protect, enhance and understand the unique recreational and environmental resources of the Upper Missouri River”. We are currently conducting base line studies of the aquatic life and water quality in the Missouri and Smith Rivers as well as bank restorations projects. In the summer of 2017 we will be installing boat wash stations at Craig, Wolf Creek and Cascade.
We are concerned with the upper Missouri River from Three Forks to the Black Eagle Dam in Great Falls and work with the communities along that stretch of as well as landowners, fishing businesses and agricultural interests.
Project / Needs
Currently we are establishing baseline data for the river by monitoring insect populations and water quality. This summer we will do a bank restoration project near Wolf Creek. We plan to install boat wash stations at Wolf Creek, Craig, and Cascade to prevent the spread of invasive species.
We have an annual members meeting resulting in collection of both membership fees and donations. We depend upon grant money for a share of our science projects. We also have a booth at the Annual Caddis Festival in Craig. We use mailers and Constant Contact for direct donation solicitation.
How will the funds be used
The funds from this event will go towards the boat wash stations in Craig, Wolf Creek and Cascade.
