About Good Samaritan Ministries & Thrift Store
Good Samaritan Ministries has three pillars- Our Thrift store, Our Assistance Ministry and our vocational training. Our Assistance office provides individuals and families in need with the necessities of life, for example through our thrift store we give away goods such as clothing, diapers, household items, and furniture. And through our financial office we pay individuals and families evictions, emergency shelter, utilities, eye glasses, medication, broken cars much more using the voucher system. We also have in the thrift store a mini pantry store that provides new full-sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shaving supplies, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine products, toilet paper) at no cost to individuals and families struggling to make ends meet.
We serve the greater Helena Community- Lewis and Clark, Broadwater and Jefferson County.
Project / Needs
Our Thrift store supports the Ministry by paying the overhead – building maintenance and employee payroll. All revenue for the assistance office is completely separate and is funded through private donations and small grants.
We have one major fundraiser event a year- the Good Samaritan Fashion Show that takes place in October and is a dinner/show and auction. In addition to this event we have a few direct mail campaigns a year and a smaller St. Francis dinner in the spring.
How will the funds be used
Funds from the night will go solely to our Assistance Ministry- directly paying for helena community members emergency needs- such as rent, auto repair, class treatment fees, emergency shelter vouchers, gas for medical appointments, eyeglasses, medical needs, dental bills, daycare bills.
